Great Plains Regional Environmental Initiative - ISU Extension and Landscape
Architecture National River Restoration Initiative - through ISU Extension
and Landscape Architecture Loess Hills Project - ISU Extension Iowa State
University Extension to Communities - program development with
director, Steve Padgitt, organizational restructuring, training in-service,
and policy development.
Iowa Wetland and Riparian Area Conservation Plan - Developed the Iowa
planning model, procured funding through the U.S EPA grant ($186,000),
initiated management and writing of the plan and organized and initially
coordinated federal and state agencies including EPA, Biological Survey,
Corps of Engineers, USDA, IDNR, and Iowa Department of Agriculture and
Land Stewardship. Plan research and development were completed by Paul
Anderson and Julia Badenhope, ISU Landscape Architecture, and Jim Gulliford
and Ann Robinson, Iowa Department of Land Stewardship.
Project Director for Raccoon River Greenbelt - 18 county watershed plan
and program (137,000 acre rural and urban/town and country greenbelt).
Former member of the Des Moines River Greenbelt Committee - federal designation
of 25,000 acre river corridor and reservoir extending from Pella to Fort
Dodge, Iowa.
Central Iowa Greenway Project Member - Planning and design of open space
and natural resource protection of corridors in central Iowa.
Regional Watershed and Greenbelt Planning Program Leader - for county
conservation boards and communities.
Central Iowa trails coalition - Founding member and Co-Leader in project
planning, design, and development.
Iowa Trails Council - Member of the statewide trail advisory committee.
EPA, District 7, includes Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri for the
Great Plains Regional Environmental Initiative, Iowa Wetland and Riparian
Area Conservation Plan and Watershed Projects.
Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, includes Iowa and Illinois Waterway
- Program leader for the National River Restoration Strategy.
National Park Service - Committee for the developing National Scenic Trail
Status for the American Discovery Trail (ADT), Iowa trails, Central Iowa
Greenway, and Loess Hills.
Center for Community Agriculture, Education, and Human Development - Public
community farm program in Dallas County implementing peri-urban and sustainable
agriculture principles, community education, and human development.
Mining and mine reclamation plan for Dallas County and potential state
model Purpose is to develop specifications and guidelines for: inventory
and analysis, site suitability for aggregated mining, reclamation planning
and design, and the brokering and permitting process for public and/or
private interests.
